Monthly Video Survey - FAQ

What is it?
We conduct 40 qualitative video interviews with members of the public every month.

How long has it been going?
We’ve been doing this since July 2005.

Who is interviewed?
Every month we select one of the following groups - Tweens(7-12), Students, Young Professionals (23 +), New parents (kids 0-5), Empty Nesters, Singles (20-35), Parents (children 12+), Teens (13-18), Over 50s, Parents (children 5-12yrs), Double Income no Kids, Singles (35-50)

Where do the interviews take place?
Different locations in the UK (North, South, Midlands, Scotland, Wales).

Do you have this service in other countries?
We will be launching this in other countries very soon.

How many questions are asked?
We ask 25 different questions every month.

What are the questions about?
We ask them about their attitudes and thoughts on Media & Technology, Retail/Shopping Habits, Work & Leisure, Finance & Top Brands. All the questions are open-ended and attitudinal.

Can I see a list of all the videos produced to date?
Yes, watch and read previews in our video library

Can I add my own questions for my own use?
Yes, for a fee contact andrea@voxpops.com.

How much video footage is generated?
About 10 hours of video footage from all the interviews every month.

What happens to the footage?
We select the best quotes that reflect the main findings and produce a video for each question.

How long is each video?
About 2 minutes.

Can I read what’s been said?
Yes, we produce transcripts – you can access them in our library.

Can I have my own video edited from the video footage?
Yes, you can go through either the transcripts or the video and select the clips you want. We will then edit them together for you. There is a fee for this service.

Can I see these videos without commitment?
Yes, simply subscribe and you will receive a free video every month.

What format can I receive the videos on?
Either on CDRom as an Mpeg or by email as a web link.

Can I receive all the videos for a reduced rate?
Yes, if you pay 12 months in advance then you will only have to pay £1,500 for all 300 videos, a HUGE saving – normally it would cost £4800 to buy all videos individually.

Am I allowed to use these videos in whatever way I want?
Yes, for internal purposes. You’ve not allowed to use them for broadcast or webcast purposes. This must be cleared first.

Can I back order videos?
Yes, just select the one you want and we will either send it to you or check out our library.

What can I use the videos for?
The videos are used by our members to provide invaluable, up to date insight into a variety of consumer groups.
To bring consumers to life in presentations.
As stimulus for briefs and internal discussions.

How do I download an MPEG from the website?
Instructions will be given on the webpage – it’s very straightforward but if you have problems our technical team will help.

How do I drop MPEG into a Powerpoint?
It couldn’t be simpler, insert > movie from file, and you can then set it to either auto run or click to play.
