Next Generation Access (NGA) has been on the way for several years now, offering internet connection speeds of up to 100 megabytes per second and bringing with it a huge range of benefits for both entertainment and community support.

The study involved video portraits featuring people from the UK with varying broadband speeds as well as people in the USA and Holland who have access to cutting edge NGA technology. Our film crew followed the respondents through their daily activities, both personal and professional to investigate what sort of impact their internet connection speed has on their lives. The footage was then used to create lively, short but informative videos designed to be hard-hitting and opinion forming.

These videos successfully compared real people in rural UK connections struggling to connect to the internet to merely receive emails with rural residents of the USA who could run their businesses at home whilst simultaneously entertaining the children with video on demand. They were then used by Ofcom to convince a panel of industry experts and government officials of this 'connection gap' and as a result, the regulations regarding NGA are being reassessed to make sure that no UK residents are left without sufficient means of communication.

Each three minute video has been viewed by hundreds of people and in their post project questionnaire Ofcom gave us a 9 out of 10 and had this to say about us "incredibly good. Responsive to needs. Highly professional".
